Pie Cuts - how to create a bend in a tube without actually “bending” it. Just like the name suggests - a piece cut from a pie; when you place multiple cut pieces together, they start to create a circular bend.
The Pie Cut calculator below will give you the two basic parameters to mark out and cut a series of pie cuts for a particular bend - or simply purchase our ready made pie cuts
Not for everyone, but if want some welding practice, pie cuts do have some really unique features which can not be achieved with a typical mandrel bend. Pie cuts do have some advantages:
- unlimited bend shapes to manoeuvre around tight places
- compound bends by clocking the pie cuts at different angles
- tighter bends possible than mandrel bends
- somewhat cheaper than mandrel bends
